Spin-out will seek to commercialize SiNANOde™ while Nanosys to continue to focus on Quantum Dots Applications

Palo Alto, Calif., January 1, 2014 – OneD Material, a newly formed entity backed by a group of private investors, announced today that it had acquired certain assets from Nanosys, Inc., an advanced materials company and pioneer in many applications of quantum dots and nanowires.

OneD Material acquired the R&D facility where Dr. Yimin Zhu and his team have been developing SiNANOde™, an advanced anode material designed to enhance the energy density of Li-Ion batteries. OneD also acquired the rights to over 300 patents and patent applications, including some of the exclusive licenses to certain fundamental inventions from top universities and a contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), which was awarded in 2011 to refine and bring to scale its SiNANOde™ materials for the automotive market.

OneD Material will continue the development and commercialization of the SiNANOde™, while Nanosys will focus on the commercialization of its Quantum Dots technologies for Display Applications and other fields.
